WEST PARKWAY AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTER TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

On September 11, 2010, between 11:00am and 3:00pm West Parkway Ambulatory Surgery Center is hosting an open house that will feature health screenings and education. Participants will also have an opportunity to tour our facility and learn more about the services and community benefits we provide. You are invited!

Located in Pompton Plains, the West Parkway Ambulatory Surgery Center open house is being held as other ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) across the country are also opening their doors to the people who live and work in their communities as part of National ASC Open House Day. This nationwide event was developed to help people across the country learn more about ambulatory surgery and the topnotch, cost-effective care ASCs provide.

ASCs are facilities where surgeries that do not require a hospital admission are performed. Patients who elect to have surgery in an ASC arrive on the day of their procedure, have the surgery in a fully equipped operating room and recover under the care of the facility's nursing staff, all without hospital admission. From pediatric patients to the elderly, patients and their families alike benefit from the high-quality care provided and the safety and comfort of the ASC environment.

According to Kathy Bryant, president of the ASC Association, "This year, more than 22 million surgical procedures will be performed in an ASC and, yet, many people still know very little about the services ASCs provide. We hope everyone who attends an open house this year will learn something new about ASCs and go home knowing 'ASCs are here when you need us.'"

The Center, which opened in 2001, is AAAHC accredited, New Jersey State Licensed and Medicare certified. According to Denise Caposella, Executive Director, the Center treats about 2,200 patients every year and offers such procedures as knee and shoulder arthroscopies, breast biopsies, gynecological procedures, bunion repairs, cataract removal, hernia repairs, and pain management.

Tobacco-Free Campus"West Parkway Ambulatory Surgery Center is proud to have a tobacco-free campus. Smoking or tobacco use is NOT permitted inside the building or on our campus. This includes the parking lots and adjacent sidewalks of Chilton Memorial Hospital. Thank you for helping us maintain a healthier place for our patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, physicians…and YOU!"
